I'm Jenny. I used to have a food blog on tumblr, but now I've moved that sucker over to muchadough.wordpress.com! Instead, this here, I do declare, is a junk drawer.

Billy Elliot!

Hi guys! Happy belated Christmas and such!

I usually upload all my photos to a post first and then add the text, but I completely didn’t realize that I uploaded the photos in this post and hit “publish” rather than “save draft.” Sorry to those who just stared at a series of pictures for a few days wondering what I was off doing.

My head has been up in the clouds lately. Either that, or I’ve been hitting a massive food coma each night and just not thinking straight.

On Christmas Eve, my momma and I went to the Kennedy Center to see Billy Elliot! I had been super excited about this show for the longest time, especially since this was my first Broadway show ever.

Yeah, I know. I’m a little behind culturally. (Just like never having seen any of the Stars Wars or Lord of the Ring films…)

But first, brunch in Georgetown!

We went to this adorable little Austrian place for lunch named Kafe Leopold, and it was hidden in the cutest alleyway ever.

Unfortunately, it was so packed for brunch that it was either wait 45 minutes or eat in the lounge area… which we did.

My momma and I just ordered two dishes to split.

The Arugula-Datteln und Ricota-salat with medjool dates, ricotta cubes, walnuts, and balsamic.

I’m not a big fan of balsamic dressings since I find them way too acidic, but it balanced nicely with the huge dates and ricotta cheese.

An omelet with béchamel sauce, mixed greens, and slices of baguette.

I’m not one to talk since I can’t make eggs to save my life but I think they overcooked the omelet a bit. It was a bit too rubbery for my taste but who’s complaining?

The topfentorte which was a quark cheesecake marbled with mango and filled with passion fruit jelly.

I. hate. cheesecake. Yet somehow, this cheesecake had me going back for more bites, since it was simply diviiiine. Super light yet creamy, with the perfect hint of fruitiness and sweetness…

It’s always the dessert that wins me over. Maybe that’s why I now weigh a kajillion pounds.

The Kennedy Center was only a 20 minute walk over from Georgetown, and since it was so nice out, my momma and I decided to stroll along the Potomac.

And Billy Elliot! (The lead was a actually little Asian boy haha)

Oh Mr. Kennedy…

Can someone tell me if Billy Elliot is gay?

There was one part where he told Michael that just because he likes ballet, it doesn’t mean he’s a pouf… but then I don’t know…
