Being good guests
Hi people!
Yesterday my momma and I, being guests of this fabulous city, went to visit some of the more well-known tourist sites of DC.
The first few days (before my mother arrived) were absolutely freezing, with this really cold and cutting wind. By the time my mom flew in from Florida, it had warmed up to a really sunny and pleasant high of 60 degrees.
Essentially, I got made fun of for complaining about how cold it was in DC.
Then, since it was so nice and we were planning of doing a lot of walking around, I threw on my thinnest jacket.
Oops.

I was absolutely freezing (again).
And I now suddenly understand weathermen.

Bon appetit avec Mme Julia Childs!

White House, duh.

A mushroom melt and garden veggie soup from Potbelly’s!

WWII memorial

My momma took a strange liking to these random ducks floating around

The ominous and oh so foreboding Lincoln Memorial

And Stuuuuart!

Stuffing my piggie face with Potbelly’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
After our DC excursion, we were invited over to a friend of a friend’s for dinner later that evening!

Punch with rum, cranberry juice, lemon, ginger ale, and strawberries… it was very hard to limit myself to two glasses

Dinner table spread!

My own veggie plate, clockwise from the top: chickpea salad, marinated firm tofu, sautéed green beans, and a mixed greens salad with apple and walnuts.

Plus cake! Which I ended up feeding to this little 2 year old instead.
The coolest thing about that dinner party is the host is an avid photographer, with multiple Canon DSLRs and like 10 different lenses. Little old me with my brand new T2i was veeeery excited to play around with his Mark II.
The favorite lens of the night? The macro lens adapter to mimic a fisheye.

Happy holidays, everyone!
