I'm Jenny. I used to have a food blog on tumblr, but now I've moved that sucker over to muchadough.wordpress.com! Instead, this here, I do declare, is a junk drawer.

No kitchen, no problem

Howdy folks!

Just to clarify; I’m not actually in DC. I’m in McLean, VA, but the city is like 15 minutes from the capital and I could bike over to Georgetown in maybe 30-45 minutes depending on how fast my legs want to go.

So basically DC. We’re not too picky here.

Also, before I go on about my day, I wanted to announce that there are foreseeable changes to my blog in the somewhat near future. I’ll give you more details as time goes on, but this is just a prelim warning.

I’m not sure if I’m still jet lagged or whatnot, but I have had zero desire to work out. That being said, I don’t have any workout gear with me anyway. Over Thanksgiving, I packed all these outfits, but no sports bra or socks. This time, I packed a buttload of sports bras and socks, but no work out gear.

Go figure.

My head hurts. My bones are also cold. (Did I also mention that I failed to pack enough warm clothing?)

But anyway, first day in DC/VA!

Start out with a nice bowl of chocolate cheerios and cinnamon toast crunch. Not the healthiest, but when your host is renovating her kitchen, and you walk into a dining room looking like this:

…you shut your trap and scavenge accordingly. Plus, the calories don’t count when you’re on vacation, right?

My little cousin (I’ll be referring to Olivia as my cousin even though she’s just my godmother’s daughter and we bear no actual physical relation) was off at high school, so I went with my godmother to tile shop at Home Deport.

Some things don’t sound that appealing, but when you get bribed with bahn mi sandwiches, again, you just shut your trap and happily go along.

We stopped at this adorable little plaza in Falls Church that is entirely Vietnamese-Chinese bakeries and eateries.

I kind of wanted to order one of everything. Totally drool-worthy.

The Godmother. Sounds so intimidating, amirite? Don Vito better watch out. This woman is scared of nothing.

Home Depot and 3 hours later…

Sorry for the single photo; I was starving and unwilling to take more pictures. This sandwich was absolutely amazing though!

And because the kitchen is still carved out, we ended up buying two of each sandwich and just eating the second sandwich for dinner, too.

Tomorrow, Olivia’s father is taking us two out somewhere, so I’m quite excited!
